Taxamo

Hi Koen, Can you send me a link to your Taxamo plugin?
  • Hi Simon, You can find more about Taxamo here: http://www.taxamo.com Taxamo is more than just a woocommerce plugin. The Taxamo-plugin for wordpress woocommerce can be found here: http://www.woothemes.com/products/woocommerce-taxamo/ Thanks, Koen.
  • Koen, Can you tell me a little more about how it works exactly? I've checked their privacy policy it doesn't say anything about the data that they collect from their own users. What kind of data are you sending their way? Thanks Simon
  • Hi Simon, I just emailed my contact at Taxamo. I hope he will give me the right directions. I will get back to you as soon as I have answers. Thanks, Koen.
  • Cheers, let us know.
  • Hi, I have got a response from Taxamo. They have send me a document that should clarify everything (I hope). It was a word document, but I can't upload it here, so I am pasting its content below this mail. thanks! Koen. ******** What are the Data Protection Implications of the new rules? Merchants that collect personal data (such as customer names and addresses) are obliged to comply with data protection rules. European data protection rules are derived from an EU Directive, so they are quite standard across the EU. There are 8 basic rules around handling personal data: • Obtain and process the information fairly • Keep it only for one or more specified and lawful purposes • Process it only in ways compatible with the purposes for which it was given to you initially • Keep it safe and secure • Keep it accurate and up-to-date • Ensure that it is adequate, relevant and not excessive • Retain it no longer than is necessary for the specified purpose or purposes • Give a copy of his/her personal data to any individual, on request Taxamo and Your Client’s Personal Data Where Taxamo obtains personal data from merchants, this data is processed and stored in order to help the merchant to comply with EU VAT rules. Taxamo does not use the data for any other purpose. Taxamo has a robust data protection policy in place and our service contract explains how we handle personal data for our merchants. Merchants typically use a data protection statement to advise their clients how their personal data will be handled. A standard data protection statement should allow for data to be shared with third parties (such as Taxamo) in order to provide the client service. Data Protection Guidance Each European State has a national data protection authority and these national data protection authorities provide useful data protection guidance for businesses and individuals. To find the data protection authority website in your home country, visit the EU Commission website: http://ec.europa.eu/justice/data-protection/bodies/authorities/index_en.htm As always, the best guidance comes from professionals so it’s a good idea to talk to a lawyer if you have a specific query.
  • Hi there Koen, Just wanted to let you know that we are thinking about it, but swift release is indeed not likely right now. The main problem is that it doesn't fit well with our current framework which means it has to be rewritten from scratch and translated into 6 languages before it can be released. Therefore a disclosure with a custom clause will be your easiest way forward. I'm copy-pasting the instructions for your convenience. Any new developments will, naturally, be posted here. http://iubenda.com/dashboard > edit/add privacy policy > add service > create custom service ( https://www.iubenda.com/en/help/posts/386 ) Simon
  • Hi Simon, fair enough. Thanks for keeping me informed. I will add a custom service. Koen.
  • No problem, that's what we're here for.

  • Hello,

I hope this message finds you well.

I am currently managing a WooCommerce store on WordPress and have been utilizing the Taxamo plugin since January 1, 2017, to comply with the new EU VAT regulations. I am writing heardle to inquire if your platform supports Taxamo or if there are any plans to incorporate it in the near future. This integration is crucial for maintaining our compliance with EU VAT rules, and your assistance in this matter would be greatly appreciated.
